24/7 motorcycle breakdown recovery in South East Queensland

The phone is answered around the clock. Tell us where you are, which way you were heading and whether the bike still rolls, and we will come and get it.

Answered 24/7 · Brisbane · Logan · Ipswich · Toowoomba

Right now, in order

  1. Get off the road and behind a barrier. Stand well away from the bike, not beside it.
  2. Hazards on if the bike still has power. Hi-vis or a light if you have one.
  3. Send a dropped pin — it is the fastest and most accurate way to tell us where you are.
  4. Note which direction you were heading. On a motorway that changes how long we take.
  5. Tell us whether it rolls, whether it steers and whether it has been down.

24/7 breakdowns

Insurance

Insured with NTI. Up to $150,000 accidental damage cover per load in transit, including loading and unloading. $30 million public liability.

What happens when you call

You get a person, not a queue. The first three questions are always the same: where are you, which way were you pointing, and does the bike still roll and steer. Those three answers decide how we come to you and what we put in the van before we leave.

Then you get an honest estimate of how long. If we are an hour away we will say an hour. If you are somewhere we cannot reach quickly and you would be better off ringing someone closer, we will tell you that too, because sitting on a verge waiting for the wrong answer is worse than making a second phone call.

The bike travels inside an enclosed van, front wheel into a chock and strapped down, rather than on an open trailer or dragged along on its own wheels. On a recovery that matters more than usual, because the bike may already be damaged and it does not need a hundred kilometres of road spray on top of whatever has just happened to it.

Then it goes wherever you tell us: your garage, a workshop, a dealer or a repairer. If you have not decided at two in the morning, that is completely normal — say so and we will work it out with you.

Capacity

More than one bike stopped?

Two bikes fit in a van, and there are two vans.

Each van takes two bikes chocked and strapped side by side, so a pair off the same ride comes back on one run, and with both vans out four can move at once. It is worth saying on the phone if there is more than one, because it changes which van comes.

Recovery now, decisions later

Off the road tonight and into your garage, then moved again to a workshop once you have picked one. It is completely fine to only book the first half.

Two stopped a long way from home

Riders who came from somewhere else and broke down out here. Both bikes go back the way they came on one run rather than one at a time over two days.

Out of hours and out of options

Sunday night, a public holiday, a workshop that does not open until Tuesday. The bike still has to be somewhere other than the side of the road.

The one that stopped and the one that never started

Since the van is at the address anyway, the bike that has been dead in the corner since last year can come along for the same trip.

Why people book

Where we get called out to

South East Queensland is a lot of motorway and a lot of empty road.

The M1

Brisbane down through Logan. The busiest road we get called to and the one with the least room to stand. Which direction you were heading is the first thing we ask about, because it decides how we reach you.

The Gateway, the Bruce and the Ipswich Motorway

High speed, heavy traffic and exits a long way apart. Get behind the barrier, send a pin, and stay well clear of the bike.

The Warrego and the range

Out past Ipswich to Gatton and up to Toowoomba. Long gaps between anything, fog on the top and a descent that is no place at all to be stopped.

The hinterland and the back roads

Mount Glorious, Mount Mee, Tamborine Mountain and the Scenic Rim. Great riding, no reception and no lighting.

Suburban streets and car parks

Most recoveries are not dramatic at all. A bike that will not start outside a cafe, in a work car park or in a basement is the same job with less adrenaline.

Someone else's driveway

You bought it, rode it ten minutes and it died. Now it is sitting in the driveway of somebody you have never met, and nobody is happy about it. We will come and get it.

Destinations

Where the bike ends up

A recovery is only finished when the bike is somewhere it can actually stay.

Home

The most common answer and the right one at 2am. Work out what to do about workshops in daylight.

A workshop, yours or one that can look at it

If it is shut when we collect, tell us and we will arrange the drop for when they open rather than leaving a bike outside a closed roller door.

A dealer

Warranty, recall and roadside failures on a bike that is still on a plan. Delivered to the service department.

A repairer or an assessor

If the bike has been down and there is a claim, moving it to whoever is looking at it is a transport job like any other.

A different address entirely

Sold, or being collected by somebody else. We can deliver to a third party as long as you tell us who and they know we are coming.

Across the region

Recoveries that finish a long way from where they started: broke down in Brisbane, lives in Toowoomba. That is one job, not two.

How far we run

  • Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, the Redlands and Moreton Bay
  • The Sunshine Coast and the Bruce Highway north
  • Toowoomba, both range crossings and the Lockyer Valley
  • Further on request — ask and you will get a straight answer
Regular runs

The roads the calls come from

Not a list of highways for the sake of it. These are where bikes actually stop.

The M1→Brisbane through Logan

Eight lanes at the top and roadworks somewhere on it most years. Nowhere sensible to push a bike to and nowhere safe to stand.

The Gateway and the bridge→North and south

You cannot stop on the bridge and you cannot turn around after it. Direction of travel decides everything here.

The Warrego and the range→Ipswich to Toowoomba

Long, fast and thin on shoulders, then a climb with rock on the verge. One of the worst places on this list to be stopped after dark.

The Bruce Highway→North of Brisbane

Caboolture, the Glass House exits and up. Wide open, fast, and a long way between anything that helps.

Hinterland and range roads→Everywhere

Mount Glorious, Mount Mee, Tamborine Mountain and the Scenic Rim. Little traffic and even less reception.

A suburban street or a car park→Anywhere

Half of all the call-outs. It did not start, it will not start, and it has to move today.

On the road

Recovered, loaded, delivered

Running or not, every one of these travelled inside the van.

Questions

Common questions

What does 24/7 actually mean here?

It means breakdown recovery is answered around the clock, by phone, every day. It does not mean an office is open 24 hours, and nothing else on this site claims that. If your bike is stopped at 3am, ring.

How far do you come?

Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, the Redlands, Moreton Bay, the Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and the range. Further than that, ask — you will get a straight answer rather than a maybe.

How long will it take you to reach me?

You will be told on the phone before you commit to waiting. Distance and what is already booked decide it. We would rather tell you ninety minutes and be right than twenty and be wrong.

What should I do while I wait?

Get off the road and behind something solid. If the bike still has power, put the hazards on. Never stand next to it on a motorway. If it is dark and you have a light or anything hi-vis, use it.

I do not know exactly where I am.

Send a dropped pin from the maps app on your phone — it works even when you cannot describe where you are. If you have no data, tell us the last exit or landmark you went past and which direction you were heading.

My bike has been in a crash, not a breakdown. Same number?

Same number. Tell us whether anyone is hurt and whether emergency services are already there, then tell us about the bike. If it is part of a police or emergency scene we work around them.

Can you take a bike that will not roll or steer?

Yes — that is what the gear is for. Say so on the phone so it comes with us.

Is the bike insured while you are carrying it?

Insured with NTI. Up to $150,000 accidental damage cover per load in transit, including loading and unloading. $30 million public liability. That is our cover for the bike on our van, and it applies at 3am exactly as it does at midday.

Do you charge more at night?

You will get a price on the phone before we set out, whatever the hour.

Can you recover a bike that is not on a road at all?

Usually. A bike down an embankment, in a paddock or at the bottom of a driveway is a different job to one on a verge — tell us where it actually is and we will tell you what we can do about it.

Do you do planned transport too?

Yes, most of what we do is planned. If nothing is urgent, send us the two suburbs and the make and model and we will price it properly.

I am on the side of the road right now.

Stop reading this and call.
